Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT) at Whispering Manes

Through EAAT, people with a range of physical, emotional, or cognitive disabilities can develop improved balance, strength and coordination. Additionally, working with the horse leads to an increased sense of confidence, independence and self-esteem. Individuals who participate in EAAT frequently develop a unique relationship with a horse creating a bond based on trust and mutual respect. Ultimately, participating in EAAT may lead to improved cognitive, communication, behavioral and social skills for many students.

Whispering Manes is pleased to offer a variety of equine assisted activities.

The following activities are offered year-round:

  • Therapeutic horseback riding
  • Therapeutic horsemanship

The following activities are offered on a seasonal basis:

  • Summer camp
  • Field trips
  • Manes and Tales – literacy program
  • Mini Manes – offsite visits with mini horses

We do not have mental health therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists or speech language pathologists on staff, and we do NOT offer equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP) or hippotherapy.

We are happy to work with your therapist or refer you to therapists who offer these services.
